Gypsy Rose Blanchard is finally out of prison – and she’s yelling from the rooftops (well, Instagram).
The 32-year-old has become a celebrity in her own right, after her story travelled around the world. Gypsy Rose Blanchard, who was sent to prison in 2016, served seven years of her 10-year stint. She pleaded guilty to second degree murder for helping her online boyfriend to kill her mother. Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s mom, Clauddine ‘Dee Dee’, convinced the youngster when she was growing up she was sick when she wasn’t.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard rushes to Instagram after prison release

She’s been talking to followers through her social media channels. Gypsy Rose Blanchard had a few words to introduce herself to her fans after being released from prison.
She spoke in an Instagram video, and thanked followers for the support over the years.
“Hey everyone, this is Gypsy. I’m finally free,” she began.
“I just wanted to send a quick video to thank everyone for the massive amount of support that I’ve been getting on social media, everyone has been really, really nice and supportive and I really appreciate that. It’s nice to be home.
“I’m back home in Louisiana, enjoying a beautiful day outside and I’ve got a lot of great things happening really soon.”
She also used the opportunity to talk about her upcoming Lifetime docuseries. The show, called The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, will air on January 5.
The former inmate has plans for an e-book too, titled, Released: Conversations on the Eve of Freedom. But she’s not fans it’s not just an overhaul of what happened, or the case itself.
Instead, she explained: “It’s not a rehashing of everything that happened, it’s more of my reflection of everything that I’ve learned and experienced in the last eight and a half years.”
Gypsy’s traumatic childhood

Gypsy’s story came to light after the death of her mother. It sparked headlines around the world after she died in 2015. Dee Dee had kept her daughter in a wheelchair and forced her to use a feeding tube. Gypsy says she was made to pretend for years she was suffering from leukemia and muscular dystrophy.
Dee Dee, who had Munchhausen syndrome by proxy, received charitable donations and attention for her daughter’s bad health ‘illnesses’. The psychological disorder causes parents or caregivers to seek sympathy through fake or exaggerated illness of their children.
Michael Stanfield, Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s attorney throughout her trial before her prison sentence, spoke about the effects.
He explained: “People were constantly telling Dee Dee what a wonderful mother she was, and Dee Dee was getting all this attention.”
The trial revealed Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s mom would tell doctors her medical records were lost in Hurricane Katrina. If one doctor began getting suspicious, she’d find another. Dee Dee also shaved her head to ‘back up’ her story.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s ex-boyfriend is still in prison
Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s ex-boyfriend, who committed the act, Nicholas Godejohn, is still in jail under a life term.
The pair had met on a Christian dating website, and she told him everything. Before the murder, Gypsy hid the knife in the bathroom, which Godejohn picked up, and used on Dee Dee. After, they fled to the bus station but were arrested.
But Gypsy actually found love while behind bars. She married Ryan Scott Anderson, now 37, while in prison. Her fiancé at the time makes an appearance in her e-book. Previously, she said she wished she could meet Taylor Swift, but it doesn’t look like that’s in the cards.
Her story has inspired many TV docuseries, from HBO’s Mommy Dead and Dearest to Hulu’s The Act.
The Lifetime docuseries, The Prison Confession of Gypsy Rose Blanchard will air on January 5.
