A bridesmaid called into an Australian radio station to tell her friend she was going to see Taylor Swift instead of attending her wedding.
The awkward exchange happened on the breakfast radio show Fifi Fev, and Nick, and it was painful to listen to. Taylor Swift has been touring since March last year. She is currently going around the world on her Eras Tour and will be doing so until December. Her tour dates in Australia take place in February, and they clearly clash with this woman’s wedding.
Attending your friend’s wedding or a Taylor Swift concert?
The woman, Liv, who bought the tickets was supposed to be a bridesmaid for her friend Jessie.
She knew she had the tickets even before buying her bridesmaid gown. She tearfully told her bestie (and the presenters and listeners) she was too nervous to mention going to see the music star, and so let the bride-to-be go through with the purchases.
But it doesn’t seem like Liv is the only one with the wedding-Taylor dilemma.

But it was awkward when she tried to break the news to her pal: “So obviously the whole Taylor thing we’ve been talking about it and you’ve been saying how it is that people are backing out. I haven’t told you that I got tickets for this Saturday, and this was done before Christmas. However, I was thinking of trying to compromise here and make it work by maybe [coming to the wedding as] it’s in the day, even though it’s a bit of a drive, I’ll just scoot up early and hopefully come back for the reception.
“We can obviously make this one work,” she tells her friend.
“Is this a prank?! Are you joking?” Jessie asks. “No …” Liv responds.
“Liv, you’re joking.”
“I feel really bad, I do,” says Liv. “But you know I have loved Taylor for so long; you are aware of this and you knew how hard it was to get tickets.”
She only tells her friend three weeks before the big day
But it actually gets worse, because Liv only set up the radio intervention three weeks before the wedding.
“But you’ve known this since before December, and it’s three weeks before my wedding!” Jessie says. “And you’re telling me now? You know how much this has been annoying me that people have been dropping out to go to her [concert] and you’ve known all along you’re gonna go to her concert.
“Ugh, I know, I sound like such a bad friend,” replies Liv. “I know you love her -” Jessie then gets cut off by one of the hosts, who say it’s getting “quite personal.”
“She’s so angry at me,” says Liv, crying.
“I feel awful. I’ve been meaning to tell you, Jessie. I’ve been so anxious about it and I know how much this wedding means to you, and I’ve been there every step of the way. When we were trying on bridesmaid dresses, I was going to tell you … I don’t know, you just paid, and I got nervous!”
In the comments under the video, which was posted to TikTok, people shared their views on the bridesmaid buying Taylor Swift tickets. Some even suggested Liv was not a true friend for going to see the celebrity rather than attending Jessie’s wedding.
One person wrote: “To do this for your friend is terrible, but to do it on a radio show is next level!”
Another commented: “Wow! She tried on AND let her pay for a bridesmaid dress [when] she KNEW she wasn’t going to wear [it]. This is NOT a friend!!”
Someone else said: “This is not your friend. You don’t need that type of energy in your life giel [sparkle emoji] intimate and special wedding.”
“‘I’ve been feeling anxious about this,’ ‘Let’s talk about it on the radio’ ???” penned a fourth.
