Timbaland has taken to his Instagram to post a heartfelt tribute to his rap partner Magoo, who sadly passed away aged 50.
The iconic music duo released three collaborative albums, as the duo Timbaland & Magoo. The two started collaborating in the late ’80s. In their earlier years, the group were in the group SBI with Pharrell Williams and Larry Live.
Magoo dies aged 50
Magoo, real name Melvin Barcliff, reportedly passed away on Sunday 13 August, at the age of 50. At the time of writing, his cause of death has not been revealed.
News of his tragic death was announced by music producer Digital Black via an Instagram post, in which he wrote:
“Man can’t believe this RIP Magoo damn big bro wasn’t ready for this at all #superfriends.”

Taking to his 4 million Instagram followers, the record producer posted a tribute to his friend and music partner, as he wrote:
This one hits different 🥲🥲🥲 long live Melvin aka Magoo!!!💔💔💔 Tim and Magoo forever 🕊️🕊️🕊️ rest easy my king ❤️❤️❤️.”
In his first tribute post, the star shared a throwback clip of the two performing on stage, as well as in the second, which he captioned: “So many memories.”

Fans and celebrity faces around the world have taken to social media to pay tribute to the star, after news of his tragic death broke.
Commenting on Timbaland’s post, Keri Hilson wrote: “Sending love Tim. You guys were a force together. Long live his legacy.”
“REST IN PEACE Magoo He had a distinctive sound & music was uniquely made. He’s now reunited with his friend Aaliyah. Rest peacefully,” penned one fan.
“I bump Magoo hits till this day. Was thinking about him not long ago. Oh man, RIP,” wrote another.
One penned: “Cannot stress how many times I watched this damn You Got Served scene when I was a kid. RIP Magoo.”
